Styrian pumpkin seed oil was recognized by the EU as a regional specialty and registered as a protected trademark. Only the first pressing of only Styrian pumpkin seeds may be called this. Good kernel oil can be recognized by its color reflections: in the top view it appears red when you look through it green. Gray-brown colors testify to inferior kernels, high temperatures during roasting, storage that is too long or too warm, or questionable additives. The pumpkin seed oil is pressed from the hand-picked, dried seeds.
