The all-natural apple juices from Kohl from Ritten in South Tyrol make every gourmet`s heart beat faster. Fresh and fruity - and a little bit frivolous - that`s what an apple with that name should be. And what`s behind it? A presumably high birth and an unexplained, perhaps even mysterious origin. The traces lead to the 18th or 19th century and to Germany, Belgium and Holland. One thing is certain: in the century before last there were countless orchards and almost as many varieties of apple. Amidst this tough competition, the Ananasrenette was able to prevail with its mixture of joy and intelligence and became everyone`s darling. Its steep career also took off in South Tyrol and only experienced a setback after a hundred years, when widespread apple production began. On sunny Ritten, in good air, on the right soil, but above all with plenty of experience, the Ananasrenette is growing again. Juicy, spicy in taste, reminiscent of pineapple, with notes of citrus fruits and cassis, this historic apple variety is ideal for producing single-variety mountain apple juice - and can still show off its best qualities: fresh, fruity and a little frivolous.
