This coarse, gray, slightly moist sea salt is obtained on the French Atlantic coast of the peninsula Guerande. Below the salt flower, the gray salt (sel gris) is skimmed off. The salt crystals contain suspended particles of sediment particles. It is ideal for chopping large quantities, pasta water, salt crusts for fish and meat and spice blends in a mortar.
