The small, hard seeds of the spice plant have a sweetish, strong spicy taste with a hint of licorice. They are mainly used for baking, especially in cookies, bread and cakes. Salads, soups, vegetables, fish and poultry can also be seasoned in a finely dosed manner. The aniseed aroma is also found in alcoholic drinks, such as Sambuca, Pernod or Ouzo again.
