Laurel leaves are strong-spicy, slightly bitter and pleasantly sour in taste. Their spiciness goes well with funds, soups and sauces, in which they are simmered with. Aromatize fish, meat, poultry and game as well as stews and also sweet baked goods and fruit compote with the leaf spice. For a 4-portion dish, 2-3 bay leaves, which are removed before serving, are sufficient.
