These brown lentils have a cooking time of one hour. They have a fine taste and a distinctive aroma. Lentils belong to the family of the butterfly flowers and are considered the oldest cultivated plants of the human race. They are mainly grown in Spain, Russia, Chile, Argentina, the USA, Canada and the Middle East. It is best to soak them overnight and then boil them in salted water the next day and take about 20 minutes. They are used for stews, salads or soups; also as a puree or as an accompaniment to various dishes.
