Spice garden almonds, sweet, whole, white

Almonds are seed fruits with high levels of fat. A basic distinction is made between sweet and bitter almonds. Bitter almonds are usually used as an essence for flavoring. The sweet almonds are popular with confectioners for making marzipan, nougat and turron. They have a delicate consistency and the characteristic sweet taste. Almonds are suitable whole, sliced, chiseled or as semolina for decorating and for fine baked goods. In hearty Asian cuisine, they are often used to thicken sauces and for dishes with meat and dried fruits.
