The Königsschild grapes thrive on a south-facing slope on the Nahe. Homogeneous soil, loess loam with traces of shell limestone. The Riesling: dry, elegant, clear and structured. The Tesch winery in Langenlonsheim is truly a traditional winery, and has been family-owned since 1723. Martin Tesch, current patron of the winery and graduate microbiologist, is a passionate advocate of the idea of terroir and at least as passionate an opponent of uniform mass production. In practice, this means: controlled environmentally friendly viticulture, selective grape harvest by hand and fully fermented wines. The result: pure Riesling!
