2018 Goldtröpfchen Riesling sparkling wine, brut, 12.5% vol., St.Urbans-Hof

In 2018, the grapes for the sparkling wine were harvested a little earlier than the grapes for the still wines from this site, so that the acidity is retained and the sparkling wine gets its refreshing, playful character. The base wine was fermented spontaneously, i.e. without the addition of pure yeast, in a wooden barrel (Fuder). The sparkling wine batch, also known as `Tirage, took place in March 2019. The sparkling wine then sat on the yeast for 20 months before the bottles were shaken off and disgorged in May 2020. He was upgraded to `Brut`. This is the classic flavor of most champagnes. It shows light, golden yellow reflections in color and smells very fine of fresh peach with a smoky component characterized by the slate soil. It has a silky mousseux and offers complex aromas on the palate.
