The largest amount of pure maple syrup sold for any variety is Dark Robust, so it`s often referred to as `mass market quality`. At times there is a slight burning sensation in the throat compared to Amber Rich Maple Syrup. It shouldn`t be bitter or overwhelming. Preferred by some for table use, but its strong flavor is best suited for cooking. It is the darkest consumer class available. Try replacing sugar with Dark Robust Maple Syrup in recipes, or pour it over oatmeal, in cold cereal, and as a sweetener and in cooking.
