2016 Pommard 1st Cru Rugiens, dry, 13% vol., Bouchard

Pommard does not have any Grand Cru locations, although the 1st Cru location Rugiens is said to be of Grand Cru quality. It is therefore considered THE top location in Pommard. The wine has a red-fruity bouquet with slightly earthy-animal notes and spicy-peppery elements. Very complex with great structure and length. The wine matured in barriques for 14 months, 40% of which was first used.
