2010 Chablis Grand Cru Valmur, dry, 13% vol, L. Moreau

Thanks to the extreme southern orientation towards the sun, the Grand Cru Valmur develops fruity and round aromas. On the palate, the wine is robust, powerful and characterized by fruitiness rather than firm minerality. The Moreau family settled in Chablis in 1814 and, with Louis Moreau, is the seventh generation to grow wine. After studying oenology at the University of Fresno in California and various positions at several Californian wineries, Louis returned to Chablis in the early 1990s to succeed his father. Today the domaine has 50 hectares of vineyards with many well-known Premier Crus and Grand Crus. The Chablis AC and the Premier Crus are only aged in steel tanks, 20% of the Grand Crus come into contact with used barriques, so there is a very subtle wood influence. The Moreau style is characterized by quiet, elegant wines that perfectly reflect the corresponding terroir. Fortunately, we were able to purchase small batches of mature Grand Crus that demonstrate the excellent development potential of the wines.
