UMF 20+ corresponds to a methylglyoxal content of at least 829mg / KG. Honey is obtained from the nectar of the South Sea myrtle (Leptospermum scoparium), also known as the tea tree. The natives of New Zealand, the Maoris, call the plant `Manuka`, which only grows in New Zealand and a few parts of Australia! Although Manuka honey is not yet very common in Europe, it is in very high global demand. All Manuka honey contains a number of unique compounds (including dihydroxyacetone, methylglyoxal and leptosin). The renowned and very trustworthy UMFHA evaluation system with the UMF seal quantifies the natural markers in Manuka honey and guarantees its authenticity, purity and quality.
