The name of the site refers to Ehrenfels Castle, which was built by the Archbishops of Mainz around 1211 as a protective and customs castle. The site`s quartzite soils require extreme efforts from the vines, as this site is the steepest vineyard in the Rheingau. The 2021 vintage produced Rieslings here that show precise and straightforward fruit and spice, characterized by quartzite. A Riesling full of excitement and potential! All 21 Grosse Gewachse were bottled with screw caps at Kunstler.
