2023 Saar Riesling, semi-dry, 10% vol., Nik Weis (Urbans-Hof)

The Saar Riesling comes from Wiltingen and grows on red slate, which is mixed with river sediments such as sand, lichen and clay. The floral-smoky nose with hints of flint - also referred to by Nik Weis as the `smell of thunder` - is actually reminiscent of the air after a thunderstorm in the countryside. On the palate, a light fruity residual sweetness, hearty acidity and mineral saltiness are added, which are in perfect balance with each other. The Saar Riesling is animating and invigorating, full of power and elegance at the same time. The ideal accompaniment to poultry in a spicy sauce, Asian, spicy and exotic dishes.
