Marasquin is a clear, relatively dry liqueur made from Marasca cherries with ground stones that give it a subtly bitter aroma of almonds. The production process is similar to brandy, but pure cane sugar syrup is added to this liqueur before it is matured and filtered. Maraschino should not be mixed with cherry juice or other cherry liqueur because the sweetness confuses the delicate almond flavor.
