Single malt whiskey Caol Ila Darkness 12 years. 56.2% vol., Oloroso Islay

With Darkness, the name says it all: The at least three-month refinement in small Sherry Octave Casks (approx. 50 liters) gives the independent bottlings from Atom Brands intensity - in natural color as well as aromas. The specially made barrels (they are the size of about an eighth of a standard Sherry butt) ensure a particularly high level of wood contact and wonderfully dark fruity, spicy profiles. The 12-year-old Caol Ila presented here matured in a bourbon cask and was then refined with a finish of several months in a first fill Oloroso Octave cask. Vanilla meets toffee and walnut. The peat smoke is reminiscent of the smoldering remains of a campfire. The aftertaste is long-lasting with a powerful smoky note.
