This is a Secret Islay, i.e. from an unnamed distillery on the Scottish island of Islay. However, various whisky internet forums say that it is a distillery on the south coast that was founded in 1816. The whisky was matured for around 7 years in a bourbon barrel. On the nose you can smell sweet vanilla cream, apple compote and plum jam. All of this is combined with peaty smoky notes. Taste: vanilla meets banana, the peat smoke is reminiscent of the smoldering remains of a laga or campfire. The aftertaste is long-lasting with a powerful smoky note.
