DE-OKO-022 The Silvaner from the Escherndorfer Lump site offers aromas of ripe apples and pears to the nose. On the palate it is mineral with a slightly nutty taste. Chilled, this wine is an aromatic spring companion that goes well with asparagus and fish dishes. According to VDP statutes, from the 2014 vintage this wine may no longer bear the Lump site name on the label. The Rainer Sauer winery in Escherndorf on the Franconian Main loop has relied on hand-picking for generations. The vines thrive here on steep slopes on the shell limestone soil of the Lump, whose individual microclimate has shaped winegrowing in this site for more than 1000 years.
