2021 Rooi Olifant red wine, dry, 14% vol., Schneider

The red elephant is powerful and full-bodied with aromas of dark berries, plums and a little cedar wood. The joint venture VET ROOI OLIFANT was founded not far from Stellenbosch in the Bottelary Hills, on the farm of his friend Danie Steytler. Together they work on KAAPZICHT ESTATE, opposite to the native vegetation phase in Germany. Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Cabernet Franc and Pinotage grow there with a view of Lion`s Head and Table Mountain. Mighty round granite rocks have been lying between them for centuries - they look like fat red elephants in the evening sun. The harvest was done by hand and the wine was aged in new and used barriques.
