Lehmen, a small town on the lower terraced Moselle where the two winemakers took over old vineyards in 2013. The vineyards had become very overgrown because no one had taken care of them for years. The old vines were preserved with loving but hard manual work and, through care over the next few years, turned into productive vineyards again. The Lehmen terroir is characterized by gray/blue slate with many fossil inclusions. These calcareous residues from a prehistoric sea contribute to the soil here providing a special basis for great wines. The Lehmener Aussoniusstein is a southwest-facing terraced site at the end of the Lehmen district. Only the best terraces and vines from this site are selected for this site wine. Lehmener Ausoniusstein is characterized by ripe, intense fruit and delicate floral aromas. Its precise minerality is deep and long. Sweetness and acidity perfectly complement the body of this extract-rich wine. This wine is serious and playful at the same time. Its lightness and freshness create a seductive pleasure. Its deeper complexity through phenolic structure and minerality invites reflection and discovery.
