2021 Sauvignon Blanc Imperiale QW, dry, 12.5% vol., Von Winning

The Sauvignon Blanc ferments and matures mostly in wood, which gives it the salty juiciness, concentration and length of the Sauvignon Blancs fermented in wood at von Winning. It also has a lot more melting power, as special barrels are selected here that ensure a soft and creamy wood impression. A small portion of the grapes from the winery`s best Sauvignon Blanc vineyards were matured in stainless steel for the Imperiale. The wood impression is therefore less intense, but the beguiling exoticism and fruit are all the more intense. Tropical guava, passion fruit, peach, orange blossom, fine hazelnuts and elegant roasted aromas make the nose of the Imperiale a multi-layered firework display. On the palate it is melting, dense and has an eternity-long lingering effect with its hearty acidity. The experience is carried by fine peach and passion fruit cream with lightly roasted hazelnuts. This combination of fruit and melting quality makes the Sauvignon Blanc Imperiale a real new addition to the von Winning portfolio. 93 Falstaff points.
