Bedoba presents itself in a dark robe with a hearty and spicy bouquet of blackberries, mountain herbs, floral aspects, and black pepper. On the palate, it is powerful, compact, spicy and fruity, and creamy and juicy. The finish has a fine, gentle maturity. Bedoba is a red wine from Georgia made from the king of the grape varieties, Saperavi. Georgia is the cradle of viticulture, where wine was produced 8,000 years ago and the Qvevri amphora technique is still used today. It was added to the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2013. The Saperavi grapes for this wine come from vines over 30 years old that grow on deep, black slate soils in the historic wine region of Kakheti. The grapes are harvested by hand; some are fermented as whole bunches in Qvevri amphorae, and some are fermented in steel tanks. The wine is a composition of 100% Saperavi grapes, partially matured in 225 l French oak barrels, 5000 l wooden barrels and in Qvevri amphorae.
