As early as 10,000 years ago, the fruits of the avocado tree were used by the Aztecs in Central America as a source of oil and fruit. The avocado tree grows to an impressive 15m high. It grows in tropical Mexico, among other places. The many small white-greenish flowers are, similar to our sweet cherry, dependent on insect pollination. The avocado offers bees both plenty of nectar and delicious pollen. The bees use the nectar to produce the fruity, strong, very aromatic avocado honey, which tastes a little like baked fruit and plums.
