DE-OKO-006 The honey is unmixed and unfiltered, matured in the honeycomb and comes from selected nectar-producing regions. On the otherwise quite dry plateau in northeastern Brazil, the Marmeleiro tree begins to bloom after the end of the rainy season. In a lavish flowering, the lush and sprawling wild quince trees offer nectar in the form of a burst of nectar. The smell is reminiscent of anise or fennel. Beekeeping in Brazil is done with the Africanized bee, which is considered to be very vital and largely disease-resistant. Bee medicines are therefore unnecessary and no sugar is fed.
