Brazil nut trees grow wild in the rainforests of Latin America and can grow up to 60 meters high. The fruits can not be harvested because of the height of the trees, but you wait until the fruit capsules are ripe and fall to the ground. One capsule provides an average of 25 seeds, which we call Paranuts. The husked nuts have a mild taste. The nutritional value of three Brazil nuts is equal to that of a steak. Although the fine tropical wood of the Brazil nut trees could be sold at a high price, the tree stands are not cut down because of the lucrative business with the nuts.
