Cloves, ground

Cloves are the dried flower buds of the clove tree. They look like small nails, are aromatic, have a burning-hot taste and have a clove-like scent. These ground cloves are used as a seasoning ingredient for sausages, pies, desserts or for fruits preserved in alcohol and mulled wine. Ground cloves are also a classic gingerbread spice and are part of many spice mixtures (garam masala, curry, ras el hanout...)
