For preserving fruit. Preparation: Boil water and preserving sugar, then let cool slightly. Layer fruit in jars and pour the sugar solution over it. The fruit should only be just covered. Briefly boil hard pear varieties or quince in the sugar solution beforehand. Seal the jars and sterilize them in a preserving kettle or oven.
