    Roots in the West

The founder of the winery DR. ROBERT WEIL bought the first vineyards in Kiedricher Berg in 1867. At that time he was still a professor of German at the Sorbonne in Paris. However, he had to leave France permanently in the run-up to the Franco-German War of 1870/1871. In addition to his work as a journalist, Dr Robert Weil expanded the winery with the best vineyard areas in the Kiedrich mountains. His clear commitment to uncompromising quality was the prerequisite for the winery to develop quickly and its wines were soon sold internationally.

    Into a new future

Wilhelm Weil, who learned the winemaking trade from scratch, set the course for the future of the winery in 1987 with consistent decisions. With far-sighted investments in the cellar and vineyard and with the introduction of the Tiffany blue label, he, the great-grandson of the founder, brought Weil Riesling worldwide attention.
