FX Pichler Winery - Wachau Wine Region

The FX Pichler winery, or FX for short, is located in the Wachau cultural and river landscape of Lower Austria. Natural elements such as the elegantly winding Danube, alluvial forests, rugged rock, and slopes ranging from graceful to dramatically steep, complement each other in a thrilling harmony.

The Pichlers are proud of their vineyards. Proud because each site is the foundation for the authenticity of their wines. The mountain terraces dating back to the 12th and 13th centuries are planted and maintained with great respect. The approximately 18 hectares of vineyards are planted with approximately 52 percent Gruner Veltiner, mostly planted with the vines selected by Franz Pichler Sr., approximately 47 percent Riesling, and approximately 1 percent Sauvignon Blanc. A good 45 percent of the vineyards are steep, primary rock terraces that can only be cultivated by hand.
